Who is eligible to compete at TAFF?
TAFF welcomes any filmmaker to compete who has a film that:
- Explores, explains, or exemplifies the Gospel of Christ or
- Whose film examines redemptive themes of the Bible (such as self sacrifice, forgiveness, etc.)
Themes
TAFF is looking for quality films that “explores, explains, or exemplifies the Gospel of Christ or whose film examines redemptive themes of the Bible (such as self sacrifice, forgiveness, etc.).”
This can be done in a variety of ways. The film does not have to be openly evangelical but should have the Gospel at its core. The kinds of redemptive films we are looking for are ones that have themes of forgiveness, unconditional love, sacrifice, self sacrifice, honor, loving your neighbor, selflessness, etc.- themes of how Christ lived and how Christians are to live their lives.
Frequently Asked Questions

Are there Cash Awards?
Yes. Traditionally, each year between 13-18 cash awards are given out to the winners of the Judges’ Awards as well as the Board Awards. The amount of the award is based on the fundraising efforts each Fall.
Who makes the acceptance/award decisions?
There are a series of steps in the selection and award process:
In order for a film to be selected, it is first reviewed a selection committee. Each film is watched in its entirety by members of this committee to assess the film from a thematic and production quality standpoint. Films that pass this filtering process are passed on to a jury of judges comprised of professional filmmakers and producers. To avoid any bias or outside influence, the members on the judges panel are kept confidential until after the festival is over. At that time, should a judge choose to announce his/her position, that is a decision left to each individual judge.
There are 2 groups of cash awards given out – those selected by the judges to be the best in the category or discipline (Best Feature, Best Short, Best Cinematography, etc.) and those selected by the TAFF Board of Directors (Rising Star of Bethlehem Scholarship given to a student filmmaker, TAFFY award for the film that best communicates the Gospel, etc.)
